HI! I'm Keegan, the IVF Dad.
I'm so glad you're here! Before sharing our infertility story, I wanted to take a few minutes to just introduce myself totally apart from IVF, shots, and everything else fertility-related. One of the hardest things about infertility is it can feel all-encompassing--like your entire life is defined by the next treatment, next cycle, next transfer, and all the planning and waiting that goes into it. But we all have lives completely separate from our fertility journey, and the journey itself is easier if we remember and engage in those habits, hobbies, and things we enjoy.
So, with that in mind--let's start with some basics about me:
What's my name? Keegan
How old am I? 34 as of 2022
Where do I live? Upstate New York
Where was I born? WAY Upstate New York
Where else have I lived? Boston , New York City, Switzerland, Finger Lakes
Ok--with the basics out of the way, here are some other random fun facts about me that have NOTHING to do with infertility, in the form of Stephen Colbert's 15 Question Colbert "Questionert":
Best sandwich? A buffalo chicken finger sub from Wegmans.
What's one thing you own that you really should throw out? A really old ratty college logo hat that is practically falling apart, but I can't bring myself to throw it out.
What is the scariest animal? Spiders, without a doubt.
Apples or oranges? Apples if for just eating (with peanut butter preferably). Oranges if juiced.
Have you ever asked someone for their autograph? I think I accosted a Montreal Expos player when I was about 10, but I have no recollection of who it was.
What do you think happens when we die? I think our life energy merges back into the Universe. (How's that for a woo-woo answer?)
Favorite action movie? Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Favorite smell? Early morning in a diner--coffee, eggs, toast cooking...
Least favorite smell? The hot garbage smell of New York City in the Summer...
Exercise: worth it? Yes, but only if you enjoy it. Like I'm not a Crossfit or running person, but a long walk in fresh air or the woods is exercise too!
Flat or sparkling? Sparkling.
Most used app on your phone? Google Maps
You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life: what is it? The Final Countdown, by Europe.
What number am I thinking of? 143
Describe the rest of your life in 5 words? Contributing, loving, connecting, enjoying, eating.
